On this chilly, foggy, freezing rain kind of morning...
I thought I'd share a bit of the things that have been going on around here...
HandyMan recently turned 40 (!). And we celebrated by having his mom, my mom and step-father, his grandparents, my grandparents, and his sister and her daughters over for dinner (chicken tetrazini) and cake.
We (the adults) had a fabulous time sitting around the table, eating, talking, telling stories, and rolling with laughter! And the kids played.
I've been working on the quilt that I start during Christmas break. The 64 blocks are almost done. I can assemble the quilt top soon.
I have batting coming. It was on sale (gotta love that!) so we ordered two. You know there's going to be more quilts, so the second batting won't sit here unused. I need to call and have the 9 yards of backing fabric ordered (want to make sure there's enough there before I make the 45 minute trip there to get it).
And Kid Two has made a dress for her doll.
(The doll gets cuddled and held, so excuse the wrinkles... that's what cotton fabric does ☺ )
She chose the fabric and trims (the trims came from my mom's stash - Thank you, Mom!). Her sewing skills are greatly improving and I am incredibly proud of how well she did on the finished project.
Kid One made a scarf for herself.
It's garter stitch from one end to the other. For her first try at knitting, she did a fabulous job and I am incredibly proud of her efforts, too.
We've had a bit of snow, and the kids go play in it every chance they get. They haven't stayed out long on some days because of the bitter cold.
There you go. A bit of everything that's been going on.
